Yesterday I was talking to a former client, and she asked:
“Do you think I should do liposuction to get rid of my cellulite?”
I couldn’t believe it.
I don’t swear very often.
But seriously, eff that.
Here’s what I said to her:
“Liposuction will WORSEN the appearance of cellulite, creating more depression in the skin.”
So no, please don’t do it.
You see, there are two types of fat.
Subcutaneous fat and visceral fat.
Visceral fat gathers around your mid-section and your organs.
This fat is super dangerous and linked to diseases like diabetes, heart disease, stroke and metabolic syndrome.
The easiest way to avoid this nightmare is to avoid trans-fat at ALL costs, and clean up your diet by eating REAL food – and avoiding processed crap.
But what about subcutaneous fat…? This is a completely different fat, which is found just under your first 3 layers of skin.
Only the top layer is subject to cellulite.
So what is the likely cause for cellulite?
– Poor circulation
– Stress hormones like cortisol
– Yo-yo dieting (starving then binges)
– Eating too much processed salt (do not use commercial table salt!)
– Breakdown of collagen in the skin
The result?
Swollen fat cells protruding to the surface of the skin that appear like ugly looking cottage cheese.
…And it gets worse. Any decrease in blood flow, any type of dehydration or local inflammation will make you retain more water, which will make it even worse.
So if you’re thinking that short cuts and quick fixes, like liposuction are the answer – think again.
Other than eating clean foods and avoiding processed junk, what else can you do?
The ANSWER:
Workout. Lift heavy and get stronger. Skip the “fluff” workouts, so that you get lean muscle definition. Get sexy results with smart training.
(No fluff workouts, ok?)
So, here’s the magic formula you need to remember:
Getting stronger = MORE fat loss.
