Did you know that the traditional Japanese diet consists of 85% carbohydrates, 9% protein, and 6% fat?
That’s right… 85% of their daily calories come from carbohydrates.
Yet, even with this staggering statistic, the Japanese have the LOWEST rates of obesity at only 2.9%. Even more, the Japanese are 8 times LESS likely to die from coronary heart disease, 7 times LESS likely to die from prostate cancer, 6.5 times LESS likely to die from breast cancer, and 2.5 times LESS likely to die from colon cancer than an average American of the same age.
Interesting, right?
So, is it safe to say that carbohydrates can actually aid in burning more fat?
Well, yes they can… However, they need to be eaten properly. More on that in a second.
Ok, you opened this email to get the 5 best carbs to burn fat and the ones you should eat TONIGHT to burn fat faster, so here they are:
#5 Beans
The great Tim Ferriss lives by beans in his diet and has proven over and over again that it works. Good carb index, solid source of fiber, and keeps blood sugar levels stable.
#4 Steel Cut Oats
Great to have after your morning workout combined with 20-25 grams of protein. Often times people enjoy oats first thing in the morning and this is fine, HOWEVER, you can supercharge your oats by adding in protein (like whey protein powder, eggs, or egg whites)
#3 Sweet Potatoes
One of my favorite foods to eat at night to go along with protein (chicken, fish, steak) and veggies. Packed with good nutrients and antioxidants, this is always a top carb choice.
#2 Potatoes
There’s been some interesting studies recently on potatoes and how they actually help you BURN more fat. Like the one guy who ate nothing but 20 potatoes for 60-days and ended up losing 21-pounds!
Of course I don’t recommend an all potato diet, but it’s interesting stuff.
Steak and potatoes anyone? 🙂
#1 White Rice
The Japanese eat a TON of white rice and if you remember the stats from above, it clearly works for them. White rice is what I consider a SUPERFOOD and the perfect post workout meal when combined with chicken or a whey protein shake.
