The WORST cardio exercise in the world…
- Damages your heart
- Wrecks your joints
- Decreases your T3 hormone production
- Increases your stress hormone cortisol, causing you to store fat
So which exercise am I talking about?
Running on the treadmill.
Let me explain…
According to a 2011 study in the journal Psychoneuroendocrinology, cardio increases the stress hormone cortisol.
Cortisol is associated with heart disease, cancer, and visceral belly fat. That’s the kind of fat that hangs around your belly and waist.
And according to a study in the European Journal of Applied Physiology, people who performed intense cardio suffered from decreased T3 hormone production (Eur J Appl Physiol. 2003 Jan; 88(4-5):480-4.)
T3 is the hormone produced by your thyroid to burn fat. When you do cardio, this hormone is suppressed, meaning your body isn’t burning fat efficiently….or worse, begins to STORE fat instead.
And if that isn’t bad enough, I almost spit out my morning coffee after reading this (which would be kinda hard, since I’m not a coffee drinker)…
A 2008 study in the International Journal of Obesity found that after cardio exercise, the subjects end up eating 100 calories MORE than they just burned off.
PLUS, every time your foot hits the treadmill, it experiences 3 TIMES your body weight in impact stress, which means…
If you weigh 200 pounds, every step you take puts 600 pounds worth of pressure on your knees and joints.
Unfortunately, I’ve seen this happen first hand. My brother, who’s in his early 30’s, has had constant knee issues over the past 3 years because his main source of exercise is running on the treadmill.
And when you’re the little brother, whatever you say usually goes in one ear and out the other.
Look, I know it’s easy to bang on cardio, but there’s just too much research too deny what’s going on. And when I see it happen first hand, it becomes even scarier.
The good news is, if you’re looking to burn fat and get lean BEFORE summer, you can do so a heck of a lot easier than slogging around on the treadmill.
In fact, all you need is 8 minutes. That’s because my friend Jason Klein, who trained the United States Marines for years, came up with a brand NEW “Turbine” style of training that’s designed to tone your lean muscle and strip away fat FAST.
And since it worked so well with the Marines, who’s job it is to be in the best shape possible, he went back and filmed 30 of his most effective fat loss workouts, so you can do them right in your own living room.
The treadmill is killing your joints and knees every time you take a step. Fat loss doesn’t need to be that hard and painful…
And don’t even get me started on the commute to and from the gym, I’ve wasted too many hours of my life making that drive.
Now you can get BETTER results right in your own home.
Be safe, okay?
