Socrates Breathtaking Secret To Success

by Yuri Elkaim

Whether you want better health, a fitter body, or a better handle on your finances…

Having clearly defined goal is critical.

Having a clear goal is what helped me realize my childhood dream of playing pro soccer.

And it was also what allowed me to build a thriving business that helps hundreds of thousands of people all around the world to amazing health, while my ex-teammates are still figuring out what to do with their lives.

But even more important than a having a goal – or the “what” – is something that the famous philosopher Socrates highlighted beautifully thousands of years ago.

A young man once asked Socrates the secret to success.

Socrates told the young man to meet him near the river the next morning.

They met.

Socrates asked the young man to walk with him towards the river.

When the water got up to their neck, Socrates took the young man by surprise and ducked him into the water.

The boy struggled to get out but Socrates was strong and kept him there until the boy started turning blue.

Socrates pulled his head out of the water and the first thing the young man did was to gasp and take a deep breath of air.

Socrates asked, ‘What did you want the most when you were there?”

The boy replied, “Air.”

Socrates said, “That is the secret to success. When you want success as badly as you wanted the air, then you will get it.”

There is no other secret.

Moral of the short story:

A burning desire or reason why is the starting point of all accomplishment. Just like a small fire cannot give much heat, a weak desire cannot produce great results.

What is your burning reason or reasons behind the goals you want to achieve.

Perhaps to feel sexier in your own skin…or feel more attractive to your partner…to live long enough to see your grandkids get married and have kids of they’re own.

Whatever your reason “why” keep it front and center. Write it down. Post it on your fridge…on your bathroom mirror…etch it in your brain with constant repetition and visualization.

For when you have a powerful reason why, nothing can stop from what you want.

Having compelling reasons why you want to achieve something is like arming yourself with steel armor that fends off arrows of negativity.

And remember that one of your biggest foes will be your own inner dialogue.

You must constantly be vigilant about how you talk to yourself.

Having a strong why can help the negativity at bay and ensure that your positive and optimistic inner voice wins the day.
