Who wants to lose 5 pounds by next Wednesday?
Okay, let me back up for a second.
How much weight have you honestly lost in the past month? Have you gained weight?
It doesn’t need to be a struggle, in fact…I’m going to show you EXACTLY how you can lose 5 pounds in the next 7 days WITHOUT starving yourself or spending hours in the gym.
See, here’s the thing…
I LOVE to eat, and to me counting calories sounds worse than getting a full body wax. So here’s what you can do in the next week to drop up to 5 pounds safely and permanently.
1) Skip breakfast.
Wait a second, isn’t breakfast the MOST important meal of the day? It can be for some people, but the idea that it drastically boosts your metabolism is a myth.
So here’s why I want you to skip breakfast. Your body produces two powerful hormones on a daily basis:
Insulin and Growth Hormone. When you eat, your body releases insulin to carry the nutrients from the food to your muscles and other parts of your body.
On the other hand, growth hormone is one of your TOP fat-burning hormones. When it’s flowing throughout your body, it literally attaches itself to your fat cells and shrinks them.
However, the moment you start eating, insulin is produced in your body and growth hormone production comes to a screeching halt. Unfortunately, your body can only produce one at a time.
When you sleep, your body produces a large amount of growth hormone, so skipping breakfast simply increases the time this hormone is flowing throughout your body, burning fat.
And get this…
A 2011 study from the Journal of Obesity showed those who focused solely on hormonal balance lost 65% MORE weight compared to those who were counting calories.
And after just 8 weeks of ignoring their daily calorie counts, they also had a 34% DECREASE in their waist alone.
That’s why I prefer the hormonal approach rather than the old calories in versus calories out approach.
Sure, the first few days of skipping breakfast may be hard, but as someone who used to eat at 5 a.m. every morning (seriously!)…let me tell you, it’s 100% mental.
If I can do it, you can too. After a few days, it’s just another part of your daily routine.
And if after 7 days you realize it’s just not for you, then that’s perfectly okay.
2) Do a short, 5-minute total body workout first thing in the morning.
Why first thing in the morning? Well, there’s a few reasons…
A) The further you push your workouts back, the more likely you’ll skip them. A long, exhausting day at work, emergencies that pop up out of nowhere, last-minute activities with your kids…
Whatever it is, once something pops up, your workout is the first thing to go.
So get it in early, that way no matter what happens, your health and fitness won’t suffer.
B) Lack of time is ALWAYS an excuse, and I’ll be honest, in some cases it’s 100% valid. But all I’m asking for is 5 minutes and now that you have some time free since you’re skipping breakfast, swap in a 5-minute workout and be done with it 🙂
C) Back to the hormones! As I mentioned, you want your body to produce the MAXIMUM amount of growth hormone, so you can burn fat faster. And what SKYROCKETS your growth hormone production?
Short, intense total body workouts!
Combine the growth hormone spike from skipping breakfast, with the surge you’ll get from a short, intense 5 minute morning workout, and your body fat will be MELTING away in as little as 7 days.
3) Eat your favorite foods on the weekends.
Now THIS is the fun part 🙂 As you’re eating healthy during the week, you can use strategic cheat meals on Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday to boost your metabolism.
It’s like shoveling coal into your fat-burning furnace!
Just keep it to one meal on those 3 days, and eat until you’re satisfied and NOT stuffed. If it’s a struggle to get up off the couch, then you’ve eaten too much.
