Are grains good for you?
And it’s kind of a loaded question because it depends what your goals are, however…
If you’re #1 goal is to burn fat, lose weight and get healthier, the answer is…
No, grains aren’t good for you.
Here’s why…
See, eating grains is like getting your first kiss as a teenager. What do you want to do after having your first kiss?
You want another one!
And yes, I’m speaking totally as a guy here 🙂
Well, it’s the same thing when you eat grains. About 20 minutes after your meal, you’re hungry and you want to eat again.
That’s why a single serving of pasta is usually ½ cup and yet you can easily eat 3 cups worth with a bunch of sauce and cheese on top.
But why are you hungry so soon after eating grains?
It’s because they whip your hormones into a frenzy.
Grehlin, otherwise known as your hunger hormone, gets thrown all out of whack from the ingredients like cornstarch in the grains and starts telling your brain you’re hungry again even though you just ate.
And leptin, otherwise known as your “I’m full” hormone, basically gets turned off if you consistently eat grains day after day.
So you end up eating 5-6 meals a day because your body keeps telling you you’re hungry when you shouldn’t be…
And then your hormones take all these extra calories and store them as fat on your body.
It’s a viscous cycle that isn’t easy to break.
